RADIO HABANA CUBA: THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE DEATH OF FIDEL CASTRO

AUDIOCLIP, ANTENA 1 PORTUGAL, 720 KHz

Now it does not happen very often listen to Portugal medium wave. Personally I can every so often to listen to Antena 1 in the morning around 7:00 Italian time on the 720 KHz frequency, and almost always with very weak signal. This morning instead of the declared 10 KW transmitter of this station which is an integral part of the Portuguese public broadcasting have made a small miracle allowing listening all good things considered between 5:50 and 6:10 UTC. music program with moduazione really good up at 6.00 then time signal and news with identification at the end. The signal quality on speech is not optimal with respect to the music, but certainly higher than listen past. The Portuguese network also uses other frequencies on medium wave but always isofrequency with other stations that, at least in my area, do not make  possible the listening.

AUDIOCLIP, BIG SIGNAL FROM ABC ALICE SPRINGS 4835 KHz

The last 12 hours have been characterized by good signals on the band of 60 meters.More or less all the stations still present on this band were heard with good signal, often in the face of the numerous utilities interference that now rage at nistre latitudes on this band. But I want to focus on a station which, although not difficult to hear last night gave the best with signals more than 9 s-meter and excellent species modulation in musical segments. This is the Australian Local station ABC Elk Springs resort located near the central part of the continent in the region of the Northern Territory. As is known the work station on 4835 KHz and yesterday evening from 20:30 local time until 22.00 it was made to listen with a qualitative Price class equal to a local station. Great music and announcers very pleasant to listen to during programming characterized by cultural conversations and long-newsletter.

NEW LANGUAGES OFFERED BY BBC WORLD SERVICE

The BBC World Service will launch 11 new language services as part of its biggest expansion "since the 1940s", the corporation has announced. The expansion is a result of the funding boost announced by the UK government last year. The new languages will be Afaan Oromo, Amharic, Gujarati, Igbo, Korean, Marathi, Pidgin, Punjabi, Telugu, Tigrinya, and Yoruba. The first new services are expected to launch in 2017.
Questa la sua dichiarazione ufficiale: "This is a historic day for the BBC, as we announce the biggest expansion of the World Service since the 1940s," aggiungendo:  "The BBC World Service is a jewel in the crown - for the BBC and for Britain".

This is the "launch" on the social networks of the Indian dxer Alok Kr Dasgupta who has taken the news from the BBC website. The news is causing quite a stir because in previous years the most followed radio and television network in the world had made a series of cuts, significantly downsizing programs, facilities and above all human resources. The numbers are significant: 289 million pounds invested, 11 new languages (for a total of 40), 12 daily editions of TV news. worldwide presence on social and stated goal to achieve in 2022 a customer base of 500 million people, doubling the current capacity. This plan will lead to the creation of 1,300 new jobs, many of which are outside the United Kingdom. It is a strategic choice of communication very important game from Downing Street that clearly wants to revive the role of Britain in strategic geopolitical areas in Asia and Africa. The plan also provides for the strengthening of services in Arabic, the creation of "regional" news in Russian, programs on medium wave and short for the Korean Peninsula and a strengthening of programs in English with original content created for the World Service. The BBC are very proud of this expansion plan defined by the Director General of the BBC's Tony Hall 'the greatest' 40s ". This is his official statement: "This is a historic day for the BBC, as we announce the biggest expansion of the World Service since the 1940s," adding: "The BBC World Service is a jewel in the crown - for the BBC and for Britain ". It is an ambitious plan that seeks to go beyond the factor "propaganda" for its own sake relaunching the brand "Made in UK" in the world taking full advantage of the reputation of competence and professionalism of journalism made in BBC.

TWR AFRICA ASK A PRAYER FOR A MW BROADCAST LICENCE

Dear praying TWR friends, colleagues and partners,
Some time ago a plan was conceived to extend TWR Africa’s broadcasts to focus more fully on Nigeria, West Africa. Over time God watered the seeds of this plan until it matured into a firm resolution to see more of the 180 million people* of Nigeria served with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Our bold plan sees the installation of a second 200kW AM transmitter at the present TWR West Africa Transmitter Station (WATS) along with a suitable antenna system to cover Nigeria. The granting of a second broadcast license is therefore critical as it will enable us to broadcast for more hours to Nigeria and surrounding countries.
Imagine the impact that these broadcasts would have on the people of West Africa but more specifically on those in northern Nigeria, hotbed of religious radicalism and also one of the least reached regions on the African continent. With this prayer appeal we ask that you, our fellow workers in the Gospel, stand with us for 15 weekdays of earnest and committed prayer for God’s will to be done related to getting a license, building up the transmitter and starting broadcasts.
Thank you dear brothers and sisters, for standing in this spiritual battle with us. We believe in the power of corporate prayer before the Throne.

May God give us grace and favour!

NEW DRM TEST FROM BRAZIL

Brazilian public broadcaster EBC–Radio Nacional da Amazônia recently began a shortwave (9.750 kHz) Digital Radio Mondiale test, transmitting DRM30. The test is being organized by the Brazilian Digital Radio Association (ABRADIG) and EBC with support from the DRM Consortium. A low-power transmitter (150 W) has been installed at the Rodeador site in Brasilia with the goal of assessing the behavior of the equipment, signal quality and system stability. Thus far, reports indicate that the signal has been detected all around Brazil and some intermittent signals were received in New Zealand. The trial began on Oct. 28 and the plan is to keep the signal on air permanently throughout the trial; there is currently no set end date. Tests are being conducted using different antenna patterns and directions. According to DRM, the receivers used in the trial are spread across the country and are owned by ABRADIG. It also said that EBC stated it plans to acquire a more powerful transmitter as soon as possible.

How can I be a bit 'of time today I was listening on the marine VHF CH16. ICOM IC700 and external antenna. Pass the usual communications to and from the local Compamare when at some point I get a MAYDAY. I turn up the volume and concentrate. Sailing boat, Swiss, off of San Vito Lo Capo. A female voice with a strong German accent in her Italian launches mayday giving location and problem. Embarks water and no longer governs the ship. All systems are SHOUT DOWN except radio evidently it goes with its own battery. Responds Compamare Palermo passing control to Palermo Radio which in turn passes the contact to Locamare Castellammare del Golfo. Good, fast and professional calmly, while the woman manifests obvious agitation, maintain control of the situation. They leave quickly and reach them by bringing safe in the dock. Although 28-year wear another uniform adore the Coast Guard. Especially for the endless and endless collaborations with them in Lampedusa during my missions work. Guys crap believe me! Listen with what competence, without losing the typical phlegm of who knows her, they handled the emergency made me almost moved. A really nice job! I picked up the phone and I called my friend that I know is on duty to their A.C. and I brought him my compliments and congratulations. Radio! That phenomenal invention!
