QSL CARD FROM II0IADC SPECIAL CALL DEDICATED TO THE ADMIRAL AGOSTINO STRAULINO


Agostino Straulino è una delle figure più note della marineria italiana del secolo scorso. Originario dell'isola di Lussinpiccolo ha dedicato la sua vita alla navigazione, prima nella merina militare distinguendosi nell'assalto al Porto di Gibilterra e dopo la guerra, dopo che l'esplosione di una mina lo aveva reso ipovedente, nell'attività sportiva velica vincendo una medaglia d'oro olimpica a Helsinki nel 1952 e numerosi titoli mondiali ed europei. E' noto anche per il suo lungo comando della nave scuola "Amerigo Vespucci". Il nominativo speciale II0IADC è invece dedicato a un'altra nave scuola, la "Corsaro II" nota per la crociera del 1961 dal porto di La Spezia alle isole Hawaii per partecipare a diverse gare veliche la cui storia è sintetizzata da Alessandro Golfi IZ0JSD all'interno del folder commemorativo. La QSL ricevuta in questi giorni è relativa ad attività radianristiche del 2015, in occasione del 101° anniversario della nascita dell'ammiraglio, scomparso a Roma nel 2004 all'età di 90 anni.

 Agostino Straulino  is one of the best-known figures of the Italian Navy of the last century. Born on  the island of LUSSINPICCOLO has dedicated his life to navigation, first in the italian navy distinguishing himself in the assault at the Port of Gibraltar, and after the war, after the explosion of a mine had made visually impaired, in the sport by winning sailing an Olympic gold medal in Helsinki in 1952 and numerous world and European titles. It 'also known for his long command of the training ship "Amerigo Vespucci". Special call II0IADC is dedicated to another training ship, the "Corsaro II" known for the 1961 cruise from the port of La Spezia to the Hawaiian Islands to take part in various sailing races whose history is summarized by Alexander Golfi IZ0JSD all ' inside the commemorative folder. The QSL received these days relates to  amateur radio activities of 2015, on the occasion of the 101 anniversary of the birth of Admiral, who died in Rome in 2004 at the age of 90 years.
