E-QSL FROM RADIO MERLIN INTERNATIONAL 6305 KHz

Radio Merlin International 6305 KHz ha confermato con e-QSL in 12h un rapporto d'ascolto inviato alla loro email.

Radio Merlin first came on the air back in 1990 after changing our name from radio galaxy .Radio Galaxy was a FM station back in 1985 that moved to SW in 1989 after getting raided lots of times. We changed the name to merlin as there was already a station called radio galaxy. At the time we used po box 293 merlin Ontario Canada From 1990 until 1994 we use to broadcast from Springfield in Chelmsford Essex our tx site was in an old abandon electric sub station .After getting raided many times we closed down for a few years and returned to broadcasting in 2004,and moved our site . We use to use 150 watts but had too many complaints from our neighbours, and so the only power we can use now is about 20 watts. We are working on a new site this summer ,and hope to run the 150 watt tx again.

Amateur radio provides social life during distancing

A 63-year-old from Toothill has been taking social distancing to the extreme with his hobby.
Dave Rootes is a keen amateur radio enthusiast and he’s been using his equipment in his house to talk to people across the globe including the United States of America and South Africa.
And he believes the hobby is a great way to socialise without having to leave the house.
Dave told the Adver: “Amateur radio can really help get away from the loneliness, the isolation.
“It can be a great to reach out and still be in contact with other human beings.”
Dave has always been interested in amateur radio but since his wife Susan died almost two years ago he has been using the airwaves to make new friends in different countries.
He added: “I’ve got a machine that helps me breathe at night, a ventilator, so I’m on the 12 week lock-down.
“I’m a recent widower, 18 months ago my wife died," he said. “If you can imagine, you’re now stuck in your house, it’s only 18 months since your wife passed away, you’re almost crawling up the walls within a few days.
“All the silly little things like going to Asda to get the groceries are not safe. Nobody’s said I can’t do it but it’s not safe for me.
“For the first few days I sat there watching TV and was looking at the news outlets and it makes it 10 times worse.
“I thought I’m going to have to find something else to occupy myself, to get myself out of the rut.
“I put on the Echolink programme on my computer and it was like putting a pin in the map, who am I going to talk to, whereabouts in the world?”
One of the places that Dave has been in constant communication with is a place called College Station in Texas.
There he speaks to the Texas A&M Amateur Radio Club every Wednesday.
Dave added: “It fell into this place called College Station and so I put my call sign out and anyone who hears that on amateur radio in the area can chose to reply or ignore you.
“A guy came back and we just got chatting. It snowballs.
“You find that more and more people want to talk to you. You just forget about what’s going on in the world.
“You don’t even think about the amount of deaths and all the worries and sadness that’s going on.
“It gets me out of the sad state.”

AUDIOCLIP, RADIO IRAN INTERNATIONAL 6270 KHz

Iran International is owned by Volant Media UK Ltd.[10] It is licensed in the United Kingdom to Global Media Circulating Ltd as an editorial news service based in London.[11] It was launched on 18 May 2017[12] and is managed by DMA Media Ltd, which has bureaus in Paris, Istanbul, Kabul and Washington.[13] Iran International is nominated for the International Channel of the Year Award 2019 by the “Association for International Broadcasting (AIB) alongside with Al Jazeera English, Al-Hurra, and CNN International.”[14]
In October 2018, The Guardian reported that the TV channel is funded by the government of Saudi Arabia through a "secretive offshore entity and a company whose director is a Saudi Arabian businessman with close links to the Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman". One source stated $250 million had been provided, which was estimated to cover five years of operation costs.[15]
Volant Media, the company that owns Iran International, has a director named Adel Abdulkarim, who is a Saudi national. Adel Abdulkarim is a long time business partner with Abdulrahman al-Rashed, former general manager of the Saudi-owned news channel Al Arabiya and current board member of Saudi Research and Marketing Group (SRMG).[16] According to the report by The Guardian, Abdulrahman al-Rashed was also involved in the operations and funding behind Iran International.[16]
Corporate documents for Volant Media shows that another Saudi national, Fahad Ibrahim Aldeghither, was the major shareholder of Volant Media before Adel Abdukarim. Aldeghither owned over 75% of the shares of Volant Media from May 2016 to May 2018. Fahad Ibrahim Aldeghither was the chairman of Mobile Telecommunication Company Saudi Arabia (Zain) from March 2013 to February 2016. Zain Saudi is the third-largest telecoms provider in Saudi Arabia.[17]
The head of TV is Mahmood Enayat[18], the editor-in-chief of the channel is Hossein Rassam,[12] who was formerly chief political analyst at the British embassy in Tehran.[19] Ali-Asghar Ramezanpour is the news director of the station.[20]

Glenn Hauser logs April 25, 2020

* AUSTRALIA. 12362-USB, April 25 at 1432, S2-S3, coastal marine
weather in Oz-accented robOM, mostly wind direxions and speeds in
knots, seas in metres, times in UTC? forecasts at least until Tuesday;
geographical references unrecognized, except 1434 two tones, then
Northern Territory. EiBi shows it`s VMW, Wiluna WA on air 24 hours.
Nothing heard from companion VMC Charleville QL on 12365-USB
supposedly also on air now (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** JAPAN [non]. 5985 WRMI & 6195 WHRI, April 25 at 0400-0429, NHK
relay entirely in Spanish, no English insert here like in so many
other language services.

6105 Japanese via FRANCE went off at 0400 April 25. Ira Holmes in
central Florida reported that on April 23, 6105 had English at
0415-0500; but it was off April 24 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. Correxion: off at 2253.7* not 2353.7* of course; fixed:
9830, April 24 at 2247, checking VOT English via Bonaire
SDR, Turkish music and just in time for YL sign-off claiming again
this has been the 1230 broadcast on 15450! NOT. IS plays until
2253.7*, shux, no extra German today (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [non]. 9410, April 25 at 1446, tune-in to end of a song,
sounds like Nat-King Cole, then a non-English song, S5-S9. Of course,
it`s VOA Korean via PHILIPPINES, also // weaker 12080 at 1451 check.

If you hear classic tunes from The American Songbook, chances are it`s
VOA Korean service, which plays a lot of it. Is this a big thing among
Koreans, or by the VOA-K music director; or retaliation for K-pop?
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. 12098-USB, Sat Apr 25 at 1436, CAP net, YL NCS
Aspen Gold 99, each transmission ending with beep rather than
``over``; classic paramilitary lingo like ``wilco``; Yellowbird 73
one contact; 1439 asks for relays before we close. No, off at 1440*
with net ID as Heartland. Aspen Gold is the Rocky Mountain Region
tactical callsign, not specifically Colorado which is Blue Mesa. Maybe
it was Yellow Brick, which is Kansas, get it? It seems we never hear
any real axion on these CAP nets, such as rushing to scenes of plane
crashes, but rather extremely rigid pro-forma exchanges.

No problem from the weak SWBC on 12095, which would be BBC Somali;
HFCC, EiBi and Aoki all agree that on Saturdays only during this hour,
BOTH Madagascar and Uzbekistan sites are in use. Surely it`s only one
or the other (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2031 monitoring: confirmed Saturday
April 25 at 1134 the 1130 on WRMI 9955, S3-S6 vs pulse jamming.

April 25 at 1300 on WRMI 15770: JBA carrier here at 1305. Barely
better in Bulgaria, reports Ivo Ivanov:

traces of 17815 WHRI? and 17615+ Sa`udi Arabia. Wavescan supposed to
air at 1500, and confirmed a few minutes later when checked on a
Kentucky KiwiSDR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1040, April 25 at 0603 UT, WHO Des Moines IA with dead air
until 0606 comes to life, blasting ever-changing opening music of

guest host tonight Jimmy Church. What would Ronald Reagan say? Is no
human paying attention at WHO to its output? I should have hastened to
pull something else thru it. Maybe will recur (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 11785, April 25 at 1442, open carrier with flutter,
S1-S5. VOA Chinese via Philippines ends at 1400 and so too should the

Chinese via Kashgar, East Turkistan, land of imprisoning and
brainwashing Uyghurs (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
