QSL CARD FROM WDI 8722 KHz AND KLN 13149 KHz
Global HF Net è una società privata statunitense che si occupa di comunicazioni marittime sulle onde corte e fornisce i suoi servizi attraverso un network di 15 stazioni costiere su entrambe le coste del continente nord americano. Le trasmissioni meteo marine vengono diffuse ai minuti 15 e 45 di ogni ora e al termine di ognuna di esse viene trasmesso il call di stazione in codice Morse. Nel novembre scorso ho monitorato diverse frequenze assegnate al network e in diverse occasioni, con segnali più o meno buoni, sono riuscito ad ascoltare AUDIO QUI la WDI da Mobile-Alabama su 8722 KHz e la KLN da Long Island AUDIO QUI su 13149 KHz. Dopo aver reperito in rete l'indirizzo postale ho inviato una lettera a GHFN Engineering Dept. P.O. BOX 2666 Grapevine, Texas 76099 USA accludendo 2 USD. La risposta è arrivata oggi dopo poco più di due mesi nella mia cassetta della posta. L'invio contiene 2 QSL card, un adesivo, un biglietto da visita dell'ingegnere capo e V/S Mark S. Allen di cui pubblico solo la parte con l'elenco delle stazioni e un depliant di Pan Am Radio consociata di Global HF Net per le comunicazioni aeree.
Global HF Net is a private US company that deals with shortwave marine communications and provides its services through a network of 15 coastal stations on both coasts of the North American continent. Marine weather broadcasts are broadcast at 15 and 45 minutes of every hour and at the end of each of them the station call is transmitted in Morse code. Last November I monitored several frequencies assigned to the network and on several occasions, with more or less good signals, I was able to listen to AUDIO HERE the WDI from Mobile-Alabama on 8722 KHz and the KLN from Long Island AUDIO HERE on 13149 KHz. After finding the postal address online I sent a letter to GHFN Engineering Dept. P.O. BOX 2666 Grapevine, Texas 76099 USA enclosing 2 USD. The answer arrived today after a little over two months in my mailbox. The shipment contains 2 QSL cards, a sticker, a business card of the chief engineer and V/S Mark S. Allen of which I publish only the part with the list of stations and a brochure of Pan Am Radio, a subsidiary of Global HF Net for air communications.

I bollettini, di circa 10 minuti, vengono trasmessi ai minuti 15 e 45 di ogni ora. Al termine di ogni bollettino la stazione si identifica con il proprio call trasmesso in codice morse (CW).
Verificando le varie frequenze, alle 6.15 UTC di questa mattina, dopo un nulla di fatto alle 5.45, sono riuscito ad ascoltare con segnale abbastanza buono la KLN di Long Island sui 13149 KHz.
Alle fine della trasmissione la stazione ha identificato trasmettendo il Call KLN in CW.
Sulla frequenza di 8722 KHz, alle 5.45 UTC si ascoltava invece un segnale davvero basso perso tra QRN e QSB, nulla che permettesse una identificazione univoca o una minima fruizione del segnale. Al termine della trasmissione però, grazie al segnale in CW grezzamente "ripulito"dopo la registrazione, ho avuto la conferma che si trattava della WDI da Mobile (Alabama).
Nulla invece sulle altre frequenze che proverò a monitorare nuovamente nei prossimi giorni.
For a couple of weeks now, some US coastal stations not dependent on the USCG have been reported active, transmitting marine weather bulletins in voice mode in USB. The calls are well known to those who frequent shortwave. These are coastal stations that operated from the States and were later incorporated into Globe Wireless. Currently, the stations are controlled by a company called Global HF Network that seems to be a continuation (or a re-edition) of the activity of Globe Wireless. Doing some research online I found these frequencies and stations:

The bulletins, of about 10 minutes, are transmitted at minutes 15 and 45 of every hour. At the end of each bulletin the station identifies itself with its call transmitted in Morse code (CW).
Checking the various frequencies, at 6.15 UTC this morning, after nothing at 5.45, I managed to listen with a fairly good signal to KLN of Long Island on 13149 KHz.
At the end of the transmission the station identified itself by transmitting the Call KLN in CW.
On the frequency of 8722 KHz, at 5.45 UTC instead a very low signal was heard lost between QRN and QSB, nothing that allowed a unique identification or a minimal use of the signal. At the end of the transmission however, thanks to the signal in CW roughly "cleaned" after recording, I had confirmation that it was the WDI from Mobile (Alabama).
Nothing on the other frequencies that I will try to monitor again in the next few days.
