In early October, a fire occured on the long wave antenna. This was probably due to a breakdown voltage. The fire was quickly extinguished thanks to the good work of the rescue service and no one was harmed.
Foundation World Heritage Grimeton, owner and manager of the radio station, is investigating the extent of the damage and means to begin the repairation work as soon as possible. This process will however take time. There is a risk that the incident will affect the planned transmissions with the long-wave transmitter SAQ for some time to come. More information regarding this matter will be presented on the World Heritage Grimeton’s and Soceity Alexander’s websites.
