For over half a century Berlin has been the crossroads of all the major actors of the Cold War. Until its physical and metaphoric collapse, the wall dividing the city was the mute witness to political militares, economics and of course all the forms of espionage conceived by the intellgence services of the two blocs. After reunification, espionage structures have been abandoned and abandoned, the most impressive ones remain as a testimony to this dramatic historical period. In the center of the Grunewald Forest there is what was called the "Devil's Mountain", Teufelsberg, an artificial hill of over 120 meters high made with millions of cubic meters of rubble from the bombings of the city during World War II . On the summit of this hill in 1961, the allies began the placement of mobile radio structures, and a radio station was set up since 1963 for the interception of the communications of the German Democratic Republic and the Warsaw Pact. Managing the post was the US National Security Agency (NSA) and was defined by US military "The hill", the hill or "T'Berg". Inside the structure, with no windows to prevent it from being seen from outside the activity that took place, there were 1500 soldiers who were taken from their shuttle buses and deposited directly inside the structure. The main radar was within a tower of nearly 70 meters high and had a radius of action of about 600 km. The radio station was surrounded by three orders of reinforced concrete walls and barbed wire to prevent infiltrations from the east . The site was abandoned in 1992 and since then the area is in full swing. The various redevelopment or change planning projects have never been successful, and for several years the walls of imposing buildings, partly collapsed, have become the "palettes" of the Berlin graffiti. In 2013, some US Army veterans who served on the "Devil's Mountain" commemorated the 50th anniversary of the listening station, also making a memorial plaque. Several tourists venturing "clandestinely" on the hill crossing walls and fencing, challenging the dangers of a disused and now defenseless area, while a nonprofit association organizes on weekends the quietest and safest guided hikes for those who want to revive the atmosphere of the Cold War. There are numerous photographic testimonies of the "Devil's Mountain" on the net, some of which we propose in this article.
