La Germania è uno dei Paesi presenti sul continente antartico con una stazione di ricerca intitolata al geofisico tedesco Georg Von Neumayer. La base, ubicata nella Baia di Atka sulla piattaforma di ghiaccio Ekstrom, regione "Terra della Regina Maud" è stata completamente riedificata dopo il 2007 grazie a un finanziamento pubblico di 26 milioni di euro e nel periodo estivo arriva ad ospitare un team di 60 persone. Non manca naturalmente una stazione radioamatoriale che opera con il nominativo DP0GVN fin dal 1984. Attualmente l'operatore titolare è Alex, DL2ALY. La stazione ha operato in 10 metri lo scorso nel pomeriggio del 20 settembre e sia pure con un forte QSB è stato possibile effettuare un ascolto valido. Il rapporto spedito un paio di giorni dopo, è stato confermato con QSL cartacea, via posta ordinaria in 20 giorni dal QSL manager Friedrich, DL4BBH.
