THE PRESIDENT'S DAY. THE ITALIAN ELECTIONS ON MEDIUM WAVES VIA RAI1 900 KHz

 


Seguire un evento in diretta attraverso la televisione o internet è ormai prassi abituale. Anche la banda FM è comoda e di facile utilizzo, ma per i vecchi appassionati di radio il fascino delle trasmissioni analogiche e delle onde medie rimane ben saldo. Cosi, invece che sui soliti canali televisivi, ho preferito seguire le elezioni del Presidente della Repubblica attraverso le trasmissioni in onde medie di RAI RADIO1 sulla frequenza dei 900 KHz di Milano-Siziano che a partire da metà pomeriggio arriva con ottimo segnale, con  sporadiche presenze spagnole e arabe, presso la mia postazione di ascolto. La lunga diretta di ieri pomeriggio ha visto i cronisti RAI commentare, intervistare e seguire lo scrutinio dei voti con l'applauso al raggiungimento di quota 505 che è la soglia minima per l'elezione del nostro Presidente della Repubblica. La registrazione proposta riguarda proprio questo momento dell'elezione seguita dal primo breve messaggio del Presidente Sergio Mattarella dopo la notifica ufficiale dell'elezione da parte dei Presidenti dei due rami del Parlamento. Anche questa elezione sarà l'ultima ad essere trasmessa in analogico attraverso le onde medie perché nel corso del 2022 anche la RAI spegnerà i pochi trasmettitori in onde medie rimasti in attività.

Following an event live on television or the internet is now common practice. The FM band is also comfortable and easy to use, but for old radio enthusiasts the appeal of analog and medium wave broadcasts remains firm. So, instead of on the usual television channels, I preferred to follow the elections for the President of the Republic through the medium wave broadcasts of RAI RADIO1 on the 900 KHz frequency of Milan-Siziano which, starting from mid-afternoon, arrives with excellent signal, with sporadic appearances. Spanish and Arabic, at my listening position. The long live broadcast yesterday afternoon saw RAI reporters comment, interview and follow the ballot with applause upon reaching 505 which is the minimum threshold for the election of our President of the Republic. The proposed registration concerns precisely this moment of the election followed by the first short message from President Sergio Mattarella after the official notification of the election by the Presidents of the two Houses of Parliament. This election will also be the last to be broadcast in analogue through medium waves because in the course of 2022 RAI will also turn off the few medium wave transmitters still in operation.
