The notes of Johann Strauss' "The Blue Danube" are back to playing on short waves as well. ORF, the Austrian radio and television agency, has decided to increase the hours of transmission on this band by adding two daily broadcasts in the middle of the day and in the late afternoon to the traditional morning time slot. In this way, the management of the institution intends to enhance information to Ukraine because local infrastructures are gradually being destroyed or put out of use by the attacks of the Russian army. This is the daily schedule of Radio Austria International which now, in addition to the "Ö1-Morgenjournal" (6155 kHz) at 6: 00, also offers "Ö1 Mittagsjournal" (13730 kHz) at 11:00 and "Ö1 Abendjournal" (5940 kHz) at 5pm through the mighty Moosbrunn site. "With this additional service, Ö1 radio newspapers can be received easily and easily by German-speaking listeners throughout Europe, including Ukraine," said ORF radio director Ingrid Thurnher in a broadcast. Because the programs are still available via shortwave even if local mobile networks and other multimedia infrastructures no longer work. (APA, 03/01/2022). This is the beginning of the transmission of 17 UTC on 5940 KHz.
