100 YEARS OF TIME SIGNALS FROM CANADA. CHU FREQUENCY MONITORING


100 anni fa, nel 1923, la stazione sperimentale 9CC iniziava a trasmettere segnali di tempo per il vasto dominion canadese dal Dominion Observatory di Ottawa. Nel 1929 iniziarono le trasmissioni regolari con il call VE9OB che trasmetteva i suoi segnali sulla frequenza dei 7353 KHz. L'eredità di queste prime sperimentazioni è stata raccolta nel corso degli anni dalla stazione CHU operata dall' Institute for National Measurement Standards alle dipendenze del National Research Council. Molto utile agli ascoltatori delle onde corte per valutare la situazione propagativa delle onde radio la CHU opera su tre storiche frequenze: 3330, 7850 e 14670 KHz. Questa la situazione che abbiamo monitorato questa mattina sulle tre frequenze:

100 years ago, in 1923, the 9CC experimental station began transmitting time signals for the vast Canadian dominion from the Dominion Observatory in Ottawa. In 1929 regular broadcasts began with the call VE9OB transmitting its signals on the frequency of 7353 KHz. The legacy of these first experiments has been collected over the years by the CHU station operated by the Institute for National Measurement Standards under the National Research Council. Very useful for short wave listeners to evaluate the propagation situation of radio waves, the CHU operates on three historical frequencies: 3330, 7850 and 14670 KHz. This is the situation we monitored this morning on the three frequencies.
