RADIO STAMPS, FATHER LANDELL DE MOURA COMMEMORATED BY THE BRAZILIAN POST

 


Grazie all'inesauribile miniera di ebay oggi ho aggiunto un nuovo francobollo alla mia piccola e molto casuale collezione filatelica tematica di luoghi, eventi e personaggi legati al mondo della radio. Eminente figura di scienziato e inventore,  Contemporaneo dei più conosciuti sperimentatori che negli anni tra il XIX e il XX secolo rivoluzionarono il mondo delle comunicazioni, Padre Roberto Landell de Moura dopo la sua formazione accademica ricevuta alla Pontificia Università Gregoriana di Roma. svolse il suo ministero sacerdotale, non senza incomprensioni e difficoltà in varie diocesi brasiliane fino al suo ritorno nel suo Stato di Origine: il Rio Grande do Sul. Si devono a lui una serie di  importanti esperimenti di trasmissione della voce umana senza utilizzare cavi. La sua attività scientifica gli valse in vita diffidenze e critiche e solo dopo più di 80 anni dalla sua scomparsa, avvenuta il 30 giugno 1928, ebbe ufficialmente riconosciuti dal governo brasiliano i suoi meriti di scienziato e inventore. Nel 2012 venne inserito nel "Libro degli eroi della Patria" mentre l'anno precedente le Poste Brasiliane, per commemorare la ricorrenza dei 150 anni dalla nascita, gli dedicarono questo francobollo.

Eminent figure of scientist and inventor, contemporary of the most well-known experimenters who revolutionized the world of communications in the years between the 19th and 20th centuries, Father Roberto Landell de Moura after his academic training received at the Pontifical Gregorian University of Rome. he carried out his priestly ministry, not without misunderstandings and difficulties in various Brazilian dioceses until his return to his home state: Rio Grande do Sul. He was responsible for a series of important experiments on the transmission of the human voice without using cables. His scientific activity earned him distrust and criticism during his lifetime and only more than 80 years after his death on 30 June 1928 did the Brazilian government officially recognize his merits as a scientist and inventor. In 2012 he was included in the "Book of Heroes of the Homeland" while the previous year the Brazilian Post, to commemorate the 150th anniversary of his birth, dedicated this stamp to him.
