Fin dagli esordi, all'inizio del ventesimo secolo, mezzo radiofonico e ascolto musicale sono indissolubilmente legati. Già in quel periodo le riproduzioni fonografiche non sono una novità ma l'ascolto é limitato all' ambito personale o familiare. Con l'avvento della radio si apre la possibilità di un ascolto a distanza condiviso da una platea virtuale sempre più vasta che aumenta sempre di più con il perfezionarsi delle modalità di trasmissione e la diffusione degli apparecchi radio nelle case di tutto il mondo.
Non è un caso quindi che l'inventore/imprenditore Marconi si interessi anche al mercato fonografico fondando nel 1906, grazie a un accordo con la Columbia, mette sul mercato i dischi a marchio "Marconi Velvet Tone" . Alcuni anni più tardi, nel 1922, Marconi sottoscrive un accordo di distribuzione discografica con la Pathé.
Naturalmente la mostra ripercorre anche le altre tappe, quelle più conosciute dell'avventura marconiana, come il primo collegamento radio intercontinentale e la fondazione delle varie compagnie radiofoniche come la URI e la BBC, nonché la messa in opera della Radio Vaticana nel 1931 che chiude questo interessante percorso storico.
La mostra è promossa dal Museo Internazionale e Biblioteca della Musica - Settore Musei Civici Bologna in collaborazione con Musicalia Museo della Musica Meccanica e AMMI Associazione Italiana Musica Meccanica - Cesenacon il sostegno della Regione Emilia-Romagna, Assessorato alle Culture e al Paesaggio con il patrocinio e il sostegno del Comitato Nazionale per il 150° anniversario della nascita di Guglielmo Marconi.
From 24 October 2024 to 12 January 2025, the International Museum and Library of Music in Bologna hosts an interesting and original exhibition dedicated to Guglielmo Marconi and music entitled ALL'ASCOLTO DEL MONDO curated by Oderso Rubini and Franco Severi.
Since the beginning, at the beginning of the twentieth century, radio and listening to music have been inextricably linked. Already in that period, phonographic reproductions were not a novelty but listening was limited to the personal or family sphere. With the advent of the radio, the possibility of remote listening opened up, shared by an increasingly vast virtual audience that increased more and more with the improvement of transmission methods and the diffusion of radios in homes all over the world.
It is therefore no coincidence that the inventor/entrepreneur Marconi was also interested in the phonographic market, founding in 1906, thanks to an agreement with Columbia, he put the "Marconi Velvet Tone" brand records on the market. A few years later, in 1922, Marconi signed a record distribution agreement with Pathé.
Naturally, the exhibition also retraces the other stages, the most well-known ones of Marconi's adventure, such as the first intercontinental radio link and the foundation of various radio companies such as URI and BBC, as well as the launch of Vatican Radio in 1931, which closes this interesting historical journey.
The exhibition is promoted by the International Museum and Library of Music - Civic Museums Sector Bologna in collaboration with Musicalia Museum of Mechanical Music and AMMI Italian Association of Mechanical Music - Cesena with the support of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Department of Cultures and Landscape with the patronage and support of the National Committee for the 150th anniversary of the birth of Guglielmo Marconi.
