Pitcairn Island, ovvero i mari del Sud e soprattutto la drammatica ed epica vicenda dell'ammutinamento del Bounty narrata in libri e lavori cinematografici. Una storia vera più appassionante di un romanzo d'avventura. Leggendo la storia di quell'ammutinamento non si può non fare il tifo per gli ammutinati e considerare Pitcairn, dove alcuni di loro trovarono rifugio, come la "propria" isola, più o meno come L'isola che non c'è di Peter Pan, solo che questo lembo di terra, se si osserva con attenzione una carta geografica, lo puoi trovare per davvero, anche se non è molto facile da raggiungere. Due giorni di navigazione da Thaiti e otto dalla Nuova Zelanda, in pieno Oceano Pacifico, non sono cosa da tutti i giorni, eppure poco più di 50 discendenti degli ammutinati vivono ancora li, e non possiamo che invidiarli. Ho ascoltato un collegamento da questa isola circa 20 anni fa e per fortuna parecchi mesi dopo l'ascolto, senza che nutrissi molte speranze di ottenerla, ricevetti una lettera da questa lontana isola e dentro la busta c'era la QSL card della stazione VP6PAC che vedete pubblicata. La busta con il francobollo e l'annullo dell'ufficio postale dell'isola purtroppo è andato perso, sfortunatamente tra le centinaia di buste affrancate che conservo, proprio quella non si trova più.

Reading the story of that mutiny one cannot help but cheer on the mutineers and consider Pitcairn, where some of them found refuge, like the "own" island, more or less like The island that is not by Peter Pan , only that this strip of land, if you look carefully at a map, you can find it for real, even if it is not very easy to reach. Two days of sailing from Thaiti and eight from New Zealand, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, are not something for every day, yet just over 50 descendants of the mutineers still live there, and we can only envy them. I listened to a connection from this island about 20 years ago and fortunately several months after listening, without having much hope of getting it, I received a letter from this distant island and inside the envelope there was the QSL card of the VP6PAC station which see published. Unfortunately, the envelope with the stamp and the post office cancellation of the island has been lost, unfortunately among the hundreds of stamped envelopes that I keep, that one is no longer found.
