Con l'approssimarsi dei 100 anni di attività di Grimeton Radio, SAQ, entrata in funzione nel 1923, la Fondazione che attualmente gestisce il sito con il patrocinio dell'UNESCO, ha ricordato in un convegno che si è svolto l'16 marzo scorso tutti i lavoratori che hanno partecipato alla realizzazione delle sei torri che ancora oggi dominano il panorama di Varberg e dintorni. Vista la particolarià e la pericolosità del lavoro che si svolgeva su quelle torri alte 127 metri, alle maestranze furono offerti salari molto più alti della media dell'epoca. I candidati a questo lavoro dovevano sottoporsi a severe visite mediche e attitudinali e svolsero questo lavoro con maestria, tanto è vero che a oltre un secolo di distanza le torri sono ancora attive e periodicamente diffondono il segnale dell'alternatore di Alexanderson sulla frequenza dei 17.2 KHz.
With the approach of 100 years of activity of Grimeton Radio, SAQ, which came into operation in 1923, the Foundation that currently manages the site under the patronage of UNESCO, recalled in a convention that took place on March 16th, all the workers who participated in the construction of the six towers that still dominate the landscape of Varberg and its surroundings. Given the particularity and dangerousness of the work that took place on those towers 127 meters high, the workers were offered salaries much higher than the average of the time. The candidates for this work had to undergo severe medical and attitudinal examinations and carried out this work with skill, so much so that more than a century later the towers are still active and periodically spread the signal of the Alexanderson alternator on the 17.2 KHz frequency .
