Seborga è una bella cittadina collinare ligure, posizionata non lontano dalle ben più note località di Sanremo, Ospedaletti e Bordighera. Come tutte le località di confine il piccolo borgo ha subito nel corso dei secoli tutti i travagli tipici dei mutamenti geopolitici del territorio. Dopo una serie di complesse vicende dipanatesi nel corso dei secoli Seborga è attualmente parte integrante della provincia di Imperia. Proprio a causa delle complicate antiche vicende, a partire dagli anni 50, un gruppo di cittadini di Seborga ha iniziato a rivendicarne l'indipendenza in base a un presunto status di Principato che ne avrebbe invalidato l'annessione al Regno di Sardegna e di conseguenza allo stato italiano. E' iniziata cosi la tradizione di eleggere un Principe, ovviamente senza reali poteri amministrativi, con annesso consiglio dei ministri. Questo microstato, al pari di altri simili, esiste solo sulla carta e non ha riconoscimento giuridico internazionale, ma batte moneta, il "luigino" cosi chiamato in ricordo dell'attività di una zecca "ufficiosa" che, per alcuni anni del 1600 imitava il conio francese del "petit Louis". L'attuale "Luigino" tecnicamente è un buono spendibile negli esercizi commerciali della città. Il Principato emette anche passaporti e targhe automobilistiche che vanno a ruba tra i collezionisti e gli amanti di questo genere di souvenirs. Pochi sanno che il Principato di Seborga ha anche un call radioamatoriale che non troverete negli elenchi ufficiali del DXCC, ma che ha avuto anche delle attivazioni da parte di radioamatori italiani con regolare patente. Quella che vedete riprodotta è la QSL card relativa alla prima operazione di attivazione del principato con il call 1S1A/0S1A nel 1994 da parte di Giancarlo Bavassano, I1RBJ, ham torinese. La cartolina riproduce un panorama di Seborga e sul retro, oltre i dati di ricezione c'è una foto del Principe dell'epoca, Giorgio I, nel frattempo passato tra i più. Più recente, del 2014, la presunta attivazione in onde medie del Principato, che tuttavia lascia molto dubbiosi gli appassionati del radioascolto. Il dxer Roberto Pavanello segnalò l'attività di questa stazione sulla frequenza dei 1350 KHz pubblicando una breve clip su Facebook.
Seborga is a beautiful Ligurian hill town, located not far from the well-known towns of Sanremo, Ospedaletti and Bordighera. Like all border towns, the small village has undergone over the centuries all the travails typical of the geopolitical changes of the territory. After a series of complex events that unfolded over the centuries Seborga is currently an integral part of the province of Imperia. Precisely because of the complicated ancient events, starting from the 1950s, a group of citizens of Seborga began to claim its independence based on an alleged status of Principality that would have invalidated its annexation to the Kingdom of Sardinia and consequently to the Italian state. Thus began the tradition of electing a prince, obviously without real administrative powers, with an adjoining council of ministers. This microstate, like other similar ones, exists only on paper and has no international legal recognition, but beats money, the "luigino" so called in memory of the activity of an "unofficial" mint which, for some years of the 1600s imitated the French minting of the "petit Louis". The current "Luigino" is technically a coupon that can be spent in the city's shops. The Principality also issues passports and car number plates which are snapped up by collectors and lovers of this kind of souvenirs. Few people know that the Principality of Seborga also has an amateur radio call that you will not find in the official lists of the DXCC, but which has also been activated by Italian radio amateurs with a valid license.
