AUDIOCLIP, AM ITALIA RICORDA LA PRIMA TRASMISSIONE TRANSOCEANICA DI GUGLIELMO MARCONI

Guglielmo Marconi e il suo staff a Terranova nel 1901


120 anni fa, dopo una serie di tentativi costellati di problemi tecnici e meteorologici, Guglielmo Marconi e il suo staff riuscivano a stabilire il primo collegamento transoceanico tra la Cornovaglia e l'isola di Terranova dove Marconi aveva installato la sua stazione a causa dell'ostracismo delle compagnie telegrafiche statunitensi che operavano via cavo. Il 12 dicembre 1901 i tre punti che contraddistinguono la lettera S nel codice Morse raggiunsero Signal Hill dando inizio a una nuova era per le telecomunicazioni. Gli appassionati della radio non dimenticano questa data e ogni anno non mancano le iniziative per una adeguata commemorazione. Quest'anno ha avuto un particolare rilievo l'idea di AM Italia di ricordare l'evento attraverso una inedita trasmissione in onde lunghe sulla frequenza programmata dei 207 KHz. In realtà, almeno nella mia postazione ubicata 60 Km a sud di Roma per il momento non vi è traccia di questa emissione che comunque viene diffusa in parallelo sui 918 KHz, interferita da Radio Inter e sui 1323 KHz, in questo caso con ricezione ottima. La trasmissione, della durata complessiva di una decina di minuti, ripropone la celebre ricostruzione registrata da Marconi stesso alcuni anni dopo l'evento, la trasmissione della lettera S e l'identificazione in lingua inglese della stazione con l'indirizzo e mail per i rapporti di ricezione. Nella clip audio vi riproponiamo la registrazione ottima effettuata sui 1323 KHz.

This year the idea of ​​AM Italia to remember the event through an unprecedented long wave transmission on the programmed frequency of 207 KHz was of particular importance. In reality, at least in my position located 60 km south of Rome for the moment there is no trace of this emission which is however broadcast in parallel on 918 KHz, interfered by Radio Inter and on 1323 KHz, in this case with excellent reception. The broadcast, lasting a total of about ten minutes, re-proposes the famous reconstruction recorded by Marconi himself a few years after the event, the transmission of the letter S and the identification in English of the station with the e-mail address for the reports reception. In the audio clip we propose the excellent recording made on 1323 KHz.
